Mu Epsilon Delta was founded in 1965 at the University of Tennessee at Martin as a national co-educational professional fraternity for students pursuing pre-health careers. Today chapters span the country. The University of Tampa’s chapter, chartered in 2026, is the first pre-health fraternity on campus, carrying that mission onto Plant Hall with a focus on supporting underserved communities throughout Tampa.
We take heavy strides to support underserved communities across the city of Tampa while building the academic, clinical, and leadership habits healthcare careers demand.
National colors are maroon and gold; the symbol is the caduceus; the flower is the red rambling rose; the jewel is the ruby. Our motto: “With purity and passion I pass my life and practice my art.” At UT we live that vow through scholarship cohorts, Tampa Bay service (including Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry drives), and a brotherhood that shows up for one another.

Why MED?
We are a co-educational, pre-health professional fraternity whose mission is to prepare University of Tampa members for healthcare careers through scholarship, brotherhood, and service. Our chapter is a family of Spartans who celebrate each other’s wins and walk together through the hard parts of the pre-health path, growing as servant leaders, confronting bias, and building character for the clinic and beyond.
